This was the third race lined up for me in Malaysia. These were short distance races (10-12km) and i did not think it could cause any stress to the body. But soon after this race, i caught a bad cold and cough, and for weeks upto Brunei Ultra Marathon on 1 December, i was feeling under the weather.
No pain no gain huh. This was the most challenging short distance race of all the 3. It was a 150m elevation gain. Not just higher, but steep. The final stretch at the Lake Gardens felt like a 10-15% gradient! I walked it.
I finished in 54.22. 12km is not a common distance but i beat my PB (56.49) recorded at Orchid Run 2017 (a flatter course around KLCC). However my watch recorded an under distance at Kami Caring Run.
The organiser was very generous with its goodie bags and winner awards. Goodie bags had 2 bottle of energy drinks, bausch & lomb solution, nixoderm soap bar, etc. And the trophy was a tall and heavy one made of crystal. Loved it. Thanks to my sister who was willing to go on stage to receive the award on my behalf 🙂 I had to rush to the airport that day.
This route was a challenging one for me. For those looking for some hill trainings around KL city center. Hit the Lake Gardens. Below is the gpx file for those keen to run the route.
