(Note-to-self) HM Target
Target 1 – 1.43; Target 2 – 1.45 Target 3 – 1.48
2 weeks after arriving to the Netherlands, and as part of the “long run” training program for #RoadtoRotterdam, on a summery wintry February day, we ran this loop. Gertjan was kind enough to pace me, an important factor given my stubborn-ness when it comes to keeping a consistent pace. Usually starts off @ 4.40 but deflate after 1km.
How did i feel?
Coming into this race, i felt quite ready (despite the late night out and celebration with the AV Veluwe group). Through the race, to my pleasant surprise, i felt strong. While we hit the tarmac route, for the first 11km i was able to keep pace of ~ 5.00. When we enter the woods, pace dropped to ~5.15, but able to endure until the final 1km. Clocked in 1.47 hours and placed 1st in Age Group. Good memory and motivation, for the days when i feel the blues, or for another chilly, windy, rainy day when i need to dig deep to train. Surprisingly, these days are numbered for the will to train is running its own course. This is a good feeling.
The weather on this day s a blessing, i reckon…
2 weeks into a changing climate (from the tropics) sunny days are certainly welcomed. My body has adapted to the breathing in cold weather, much to my pleasant surprise. That is one challenge accomplished. I think the miles logged in (structurally – mindfully) since June 2018 helps with the stamina built up. Increase in running mileages is important to replace the swimming and cycling mileages lost if i want to achieve my FM goal in 2020 #bostonqualification.
