(Reflection) The run mileage…

18.7.2018, Wednesday.

My running mileage over the last 7 weeks:

(W1) 51.8 km; (W2) 48.7 km; (W3) 44.9 km; (W4) 59.9 km; (W5) 42.0km; (W6) 40.8km; (W7) 65.5 km.

Highest in June and over the last 11 months.

Once, i read an article on what the pros weekly running mileages were like. Shalane Flanagan says she clocked in an average of 110 miles (176 km) per week. 176 km means an average of 25km a day! The sound of it gives me goosebumps.

A month and a half ago, my running was merely based on “the mood of the day”. I don’t prescribe to any plans. I just run when i feel like it, race when i feel like it. Mileages were also low.

The last 7 weeks have seen me increasing mileages, with a 1km interval and 400m interval built in, including 3 mountain climbs. Yes, i have recorded PB on the 10km, and 21km and set my own 5km record (never had one). But today, i think i suffer a withdrawal symptom. Maybe my body is not yet used to the feet pounding sessions.

It is good to reflect when your mind and body is feeling blehhh… with very little desire to lace up. Because upon reflection, i re-focus my mind on what i have set myself to achieve months ago; Target 1 – 40@40; Target 2 – 45@40. It means 40 min (10km) at age 40 or 45  min (10km) at age 40. It is (only) 15 months away.

Every weekend warrior starts with a different base-line. You are your only competition.

Wish me luck! Never give up!

Just a matter of holding on to the sometimes tedious workouts (with rest now&then). The results will come sooner or later and that will make it it all worth it!
My opinion; more training = better results 🙂
