Pretty motivated scoring my first PB on a 5km road race, 22.52 min.
The race course was a 2-looper with numerous corners to manoeuvre. It was organised in the village of Bergentheim in the municipality of Hardenberg, with a small population of 3,500. Great atmosphere! The streets were crowded with spectators, music with home built sound system tucked away at one of the corner with crowd cheering you on, a live band at race finish area, and beers on tap…
Perhaps, the sound beat and endless crowd presence contributed to the 46 seconds shaved off to achieve a PB.
Anne van Schuppen, a former Dutch Olympian also participated in this event in the above 50 year category. She has a HM record of 1.13.20 under her belt in 1992.
