The Race
I ran my first 5km race in Deventer, Netherlands yesterday.
I never had a PB record, so i guess any number would be “A” PB, so… – mission accomplished even before i start, technically speaking?
NOo.
There was a range of time expectations that i have set for myself, and this is how that range goes (in my subconscious mind):
24.44 min is what i know i have ran – with comfort (recorded @ Quintusloop on a HM trail/road route)
22.26 min is what i think i should run – 10% improvement on a road running route.
a 4.29 m/km pace (untested physically… hmm ??)
23.14 min was what i ran. (Av pace of 4.39 m/km) – poor given i have ran 4.42 on a 10km route back in July 2017 on 100m elevation gain Malaysia weather!. Bahhhhhhh…
And to add “salt to the wound”, for this race, i had to miss ‘d #3 slot by 1 sec.
Ouch. (but maybe a good wake up call 🙂
So what went wrong on race day?
……….
I reserve this space for when i am able to explain what IS working, for i rather focus on what helps to improve one’s race (and experimented) rather than wallowing on the “what could have…” – yes, my excuse from burrowing away underground at this very moment.
